"My husband and I eat out in town once a week, we usually go to child friendly restaurants and take our kids with us. We booked my birthday in Piccolinos for myself and my husband. When we arrived the greeter didn't ask to take our coats then showed us to a table that was hemmed in far too close to other diners, you could hear every word the other people were saying, it was like sitting at a table in Mcdonalds. It was far from the sort of atmosphere I expect. (we have eaten there previously). We asked to move to another table and we were put in one at the top of the stairs. To be honest we should have followed our gut feelings and left then but as it was my birthday we stayed. When my husband said to the women who took us to our table that it wasn't very good she was outrageously patronising saying the restaurant was very busy. It was almost implying that we were somehow "lucky" to be in there at all. We ordered our starters - the food was okay nothing special- but unbelievely our main courses arrived while we were still finishing off our starters. We couldn't wait to leave and we obviously will not be returning. We have told our friends what happend and they too would not eat there either."

"Well, i went there around march and thought it was OK, i touch pricey. I thought the staff were ok and I didn't seem to get any attitude. Would like to back again.

"My visit was not pleasant at all, staff with big attitudes, not very helpful at all and the manager has a chip on his shoulder. The food was ok but i think for what you get it is overpriced and overated... would never go back, the tables are too close together so they can fit more customers in. Never again..."

"Very very poor attitude of staff. We had booked a table but walked out eventually as made to wait half an hour with no explanation of hold up. Quite blatently sat 4 other couples down who obviously hadn't booked but were in the know!!!!!!
Very expensive, 10 for glass of wine and pint of lager.
Recommended to us by friends who now share the same view as us, never to return.
Food did look nice though."

"Friday night, tables jammed packed next to each other... not appealing to couples as the 3 inch gap between peels any intermacy. Smaller than expected, bar downstairs was packed
creating very noisy atmosphere. Starter platter was delicious to share, along with perfect italian style cheesy garlic bread.

Main meal, Tuna steak came a little bit pink, so had to be
sent back, quite plain mains. Most mains come with out anything, so a side must be added on too. Staff were helpful and friendly, would recommend for groups rather than couples, probably won't be back."

"Overpriced wine. Asked for a replacement for large amount of onion in small overpriced salad - tried to charge extra 1 for olives. Staff had poor attitude, would not return."

"Food was up to standard but the whole experience was let down by the attitude of the manager. So I would not recommend Piccolino to anyone who wanted a relaxing fine dining experience."

"A really poor dining experience. Despite being only mildly busy, the service was slow and the food was certainly not worth the wait.

Far from being apologetic, the staff were decidedly smug and I won't be wasting my money here again."

""Have visited four times in recent months. Food is always excellent and the service very quick. All staff are friendly with a good knowledge of both food and drink menus. A great atmosphere during week as well as weekends. Booking reccommended.""

""After trying several Italian places in Liverpool without much luck, Piccolino was a breath of fresh air.

The menu and prices suit me and whenever I fancied having a dish altered to meet my vegetarian requirements they did it well. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere's great, even at lunchtime. ""

""Disappointing and overpriced. Service very slow, food tepid and bland. Don't order lasagne if you are hungry - portion size unbelievably small.""

""An excellent italian restaurant. Good authentic food, reasonably priced with friendly and Knowledgable staff. Far better than the overpriced Il Forno in Duke St.""
